In a strategic move to enhance the effectiveness of governmental communication, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reorganization of the State House Media and Communications Team. The restructuring designates three Special Advisers—Bayo Onanuga, Sunday Dare, and Daniel Bwala—as joint spokespersons for the government.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President. The statement outlined the rationale and details of the new appointments, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to efficient and coordinated dissemination of information.
According to Onanuga, the restructuring involves the re-designation of roles among the recently appointed media officials. The changes are as follows:
Sunday Dare, formerly Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, has been re-designated as Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications.
Daniel Bwala, initially announced as Special Adviser, Media and Public Communication, is now Special Adviser, Policy Communication.
Bayo Onanuga continues in his role as Special Adviser, Information and Strategy.
The statement emphasized that this restructuring reflects a deliberate shift in the communication framework of the Presidency. “These appointments, along with the existing role of Special Adviser, Information and Strategy, underscore that there is no single individual spokesperson for the Presidency. Instead, the three Special Advisers will collectively serve as spokespersons for the government,” Onanuga noted.
He further stated that the collaborative approach aims to ensure a seamless and unified communication strategy. “This approach is designed to guarantee effective and consistent communication of government policies, decisions, and engagements,” the statement read.
The new structure is expected to bolster the administration’s outreach efforts, fostering clarity and transparency in communicating with the public.
