President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Adeboye Adeyinka, widely known as “Sulu,” as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Grassroots Sports Development. This significant appointment underscores the President’s commitment to nurturing sports at the grassroots level and empowering the youth through active participation in sports.
Parrot Reporters have reliably gathered that “Sulu” is a seasoned sports administrator with a track record of impactful contributions to sports development in Nigeria. Prior to this appointment, he served as Special Assistant to the former Minister of Sports, Senator John Owan Enoh, where he was instrumental in policy implementation and fostering grassroots sports initiatives.
“Sulu” also held the position of Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports to the Lagos State Governor, a role in which he championed numerous programmes aimed at identifying and nurturing young sporting talents across the state.
In addition to his administrative roles, “Sulu” serves as the Chairman of Smart City Football Club, a Lagos-based team competing in the Nigerian National League (NNL). Under his leadership, the club has gained recognition for its development-focused approach and its role in providing a platform for budding footballers to showcase their talents on a national stage.
The appointment of “Sulu” is expected to bolster grassroots sports development across the country, aligning with the Tinubu administration’s vision to harness sports as a tool for youth empowerment, social inclusion and national unity.
