SANWO-OLU SWEARS IN HON. OKEOWO OLUFEMI AKANBI AS IFELDUN LCDA CHAIRMAN
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Monday presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Hon. Okeowo Olufemi Akanbi as the re-elected Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA). The brief but symbolic event took place at Lagos House, Ikeja, with government officials, party leaders, traditional rulers, and family members in attendance.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, while congratulating Hon. Okeowo on his re-election, charged him to see his return to office as a renewed call to service and an opportunity to deepen the dividends of democracy for the residents of Ifelodun LCDA.
The Governor emphasized that leadership at the grassroots level requires dedication, accountability, and people-oriented programmes, noting that council chairmen remain closest to the people and are vital in translating government policies into tangible development.
“Your re-election is a vote of confidence in your leadership,” Sanwo-Olu said. “The people of Ifelodun have entrusted you again with their mandate, and it is important that you justify their trust through purposeful governance. Leadership is not about titles, but about service and commitment to the people. I look forward to seeing the progress and transformation Ifelodun LCDA will record under your stewardship.”
In his remarks, Hon. Okeowo expressed gratitude to God, the Governor, party leaders, and the people of Ifelodun for their continued confidence in his leadership. He pledged to consolidate on his first-term achievements and accelerate development projects in infrastructure, health, education, and youth empowerment.
The swearing-in further underscores the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots governance in Lagos State, ensuring that every local council remains an engine of growth and development.
