The Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA held a Press briefing in response to the rumours spread online: in which the writer claimed that the Mayoress imposed Aso-Ebi for her upcoming birthday on the council staffs.
In response to the allegations, the Mayoress vehemently refuted these claims. According to her, the news was sponsored by haters of good governance. “I am saying it categorically that the claim that I imposed any Aso-ebi payment on our staff is fake news”, she said.
The Mayoress also itemized her commitment to the staff’s welfare and provided evidence of her
good working relationship with the LCDA staffs.
Some of the efforts stated are increased staff welfare package from 400,000 Naira to 1.4 Million Naira monthly. Which according to her was a reflection of her recognition of their hard work and dedication.
Construction of a befitting ultra-mordern office complex for the staffs, to solve the issue of inadequate working conditions that were prevalent prior to her tenure. She urged the press to conduct their own verification of the newly built facilities and any of everyother.
She also highlighted increased staff bonus scheme from the regular 4,000 Naira to 10,000 Naira and also promised to do more from this month of August 2023 to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal
And the provision of new staff (coastal) bus even before the effect of subsidy removal to enhance the daily transportation and staff convenience.
The Mayoress also highlighted her early initiatives in providing palliative support to the constituents of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA even before the removal of subsidies. As a demonstration of her unwavering commitment to their welfare, she revealed plans for another round of palliative assistance that would be implemented in the near future.
She firmly stated that there is no evidence or formal invitation requiring staff members to contribute financially to her upcoming birthday celebration. She expressed her disappointment in the false allegations, deeming them part of a concerted effort to blackmail her and tarnish her reputation.
In her concluding remarks, she resolved to pursue a legal route to expose the perpetrators responsible for the false allegations. Also, she asserted that their motive was to prevent the Governor’s visit during the recent commissioning of the Sanwo-Olu International Market, aiming to diminish its importance. When this strategy failed, they resorted to the baseless accusations.
The Mayoress urged the Press to approach their reporting with diligence and accuracy, emphasizing the importance of presenting facts rather than sensationalized fabrications.
Finally, the Mayoress reassured the staffs of her dedication to staff’s welfarism, and her commitment to the constituents through palliative support and other support that can cushion the effort of the subsidy removal.
