The Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, has been officially appointed as a member of the Governing Council of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), marking yet another milestone in his distinguished career in the education sector.

The appointment was formalized during the inauguration ceremony of the new Governing Council, chaired by Dr. Mustapha Salihu, which took place on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Federal Ministry of Education Headquarters in Abuja. The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Alausa, presided over the event, emphasizing the Council’s critical role in strengthening teacher professionalism and educational standards nationwide.

In an official statement, the Management and Staff of the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education hailed the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Mr. Alli-Balogun’s unwavering commitment, expertise, and invaluable contributions to the education sector.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Honourable Commissioner on this remarkable achievement,” the statement read. “This appointment not only reflects his personal excellence but also enhances the prestige of our Ministry and the Lagos State Government. We are confident that his leadership and input will further advance the development of quality education and teacher professionalism in Nigeria.”

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) serves as the statutory body responsible for the regulation, licensing, and professional development of teachers in the country. With Mr. Alli-Balogun joining the Governing Council, stakeholders believe his wealth of experience in policy formulation and educational reform will contribute significantly to the Council’s mandate of raising teaching standards and promoting best practices across schools in Nigeria.
