A student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Enitan Subair, who embarked on a monumental challenge aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual hand cloth washing, late Monday night concluded the event after a marathon 58 hours.
Subair, a 200-level student, dedicated herself to a gruelling 58-hour hand wash-a-thon, commencing Friday afternoon within the university’s Student Union Building Motor park in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Throughout the marathon hand washing endeavour, Subair was surrounded by an enthusiastic crowd of thousands of fellow students who rallied in support of her quest.
Additionally, numerous university officials and various student artistes paid solidarity visits to the task pavilion, boosting her morale as she pushed through the daunting feat.
Amidst the cheers and encouragement, Subair successfully completed the rigorous 58-hour challenge around midnight on Monday.
However, the triumphant achievement was followed by concern for her well-being, as she was swiftly transported in the school’s ambulance to the institution’s clinic for a thorough medical evaluation.
Prior to heading to the clinic, Subair shared her elation at achieving the feat, expressing gratitude for completing the task in the presence of her mother, Omogbolabo Afolake, who stood by her side for over two days.
“I am incredibly fulfilled to have accomplished this task in front of my mom, surrounded by friends and colleagues who gathered here to show their love and support for my ambition,” Enitan said.
While the bid for the Guinness World Record was valiantly pursued, the physical toll became apparent, prompting the necessary medical attention for Subair.
Her determination and the overwhelming support she received, however, remain at the heart of this remarkable endeavour.
