The political landscape of Badagry and Lagos State has been thrown into mourning following the demise of Pa Akinsanya Sunny Ajose, a distinguished apex leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a highly revered elder statesman.

Pa Ajose passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 82. The news of his passing was confirmed by Hon. Solomon Bonu Saanu, a Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Badagry Constituency I, who wrote on social media, “RIP Baba Sunny.”

As the sole representative of Badagry in the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Pa Ajose was a towering figure in Lagos politics. His contributions to the growth of the APC and the development of Lagos State remain unparalleled.

Pa Ajose’s political and administrative career spanned decades. He served as the Lagos State Head of Service during the tenure of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Governor of Lagos State. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in implementing transformative policies and initiatives that shaped the state’s governance framework.

His leadership extended beyond politics. As a unifying force within the APC, Pa Ajose was known for his ability to mediate disputes and foster collaboration among party members. His dedication to the development of Badagry was evident in his tireless efforts to ensure that the area received the recognition and support it deserved.

Since the announcement of his death, tributes have poured in from across Lagos State and beyond. Political stakeholders, community leaders, and residents have expressed their grief and paid glowing tributes to a man they described as a father figure and a mentor.

In a statement, a close associate of the late statesman remarked, “Pa Ajose was more than a leader; he was an institution. His wisdom, humility, and commitment to service will be sorely missed.”

The news of Pa Ajose’s demise has left the Badagry community in deep mourning. Residents and political associates have begun organizing condolence visits to his family, reflecting the profound impact he had on the lives of many.

As the state awaits details of his burial arrangements, it is clear that Pa Ajose’s legacy will endure as a beacon of hope and inspiration for generations to come.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
