It’s a pleasure to note that the APC in Diaspora has finally been incorporated into the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the APC. On the 28th December 2018, the National Secretariat of All Progressives Congress released a list of members of the PCC with a clear omission of the APC in Diaspora. Following this release, the Chairmen of APC Diaspora chapters addressed a well-publicized press conference on 2nd January 2019 to make known their displeasure on the exclusion while highlighting their contributions to the electoral victories of APC in the year 2015 for the President and various office holders in Nigeria. It will appear that the contributions of Diaspora members in wrestling power from the behemoth, the PDP were not recognized. This led to intense engagement at very high levels in the APC Headquarters in Abuja and the Presidency, and this has finally led to the formation of the Diaspora Directorate of the PCC. In making sure that the next level is a reality, the APC Diaspora Chapters across the world will now work intensively with the people back home to sensitize them and ensure victories for APC at all levels.
While Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Senior Special Adviser on Foreign Relations and Diaspora to President Muhammadu Buhari will serve as the Director of the Diaspora Directorate of the PCC, she will be robustly assisted by the immediate Past Chairman of APC USA Chapter, Hon. Tony Isama. Other members of the directorate are Engr. Bola Babarinde – APC South Africa, Dr. Philip Idaewor – APC UK, Mr. Ayoola Lawal – APC Scandinavia, Mr. Olanrewaju Balogun- APC France, Prof. Adesegun Labinjo – APC USA, Mr. Olalekan Ogunwede – APC Germany, Mr. kelvin Aghedo – APC Gambia also included in the committee are Mr. Charles Oghenosa Micheletti – APC Ghana, Mr. Stephen Tella – APC Spain and Mr. Hammed Adefioye – APC Ireland.
Finally, Nigerians should be wary of untenable and unrealistic promises being peddled by many oppositions. The Nigeria project is a work in progress and although the process may be slow but we shall get to the promise land. We must never go back to Egypt.
Surely, there are credible opposition with genuine concerns for the nation but there are a lot more whose intention is to further plunder the wealth of our country, loot out of existence our fatherland and spare no thought for the future of Nigeria.
