The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced the appointment of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, as the new National Chairman of the ruling party.
Prof. Yilwatda, a renowned academic and technocrat, previously served as the APC’s governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections in Plateau State. His appointment was ratified during the party’s NEC meeting held in Abuja, signaling a new chapter in the leadership of the APC as it positions itself ahead of future political engagements.
The new chairman replaces Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who stepped aside from the role reportedly on health grounds. Party leaders and stakeholders have expressed confidence in Yilwatda’s capacity to steer the party towards greater unity and internal stability.
Party sources say Yilwatda’s emergence reflects the party’s commitment to promoting credible leadership and strengthening its grassroots appeal, particularly in the North-Central region.
More details are expected to emerge following the post-NEC briefing.
