The Director of the Diaspora Directorate, Tinubu Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Prince Ade Omole made a strong integrity statement when he submitted a 22-page campaign report and 8-page expenditure breakdown on behalf of the Diaspora Directorate to Honourable Christopher Tarka, Deputy Secretary, Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
The documentation detailed the activities of the Diaspora Directorate during the campaign season which contributed immensely to the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the February 25th 2023 Presidential polls.
Prince Omole returned the total sum of N2.4 million Naira to the PCC, being undisbursed funds during the campaign which was the remaining of the 10 million naira received by the Directorate during the campaign phase. The sum was allocated for Diaspora Directorate members’ transportation but only N7.6 million was disbursed while the balance has been refunded accordingly.
The Director thanked the leadership of the Presidential Campaign Council, on behalf of the Diaspora Directorate, for the opportunity to serve the party and country during the campaign period.
Honourable Tarka thanked the Diaspora Director for his forthright leadership, campaign initiatives, contribution to Tinubu’s victory, accountability, transparency and distinguishable work ethics. He commended the Diaspora Directorate under the leadership of Prince Omole for blazing the campaign trail on many fronts.
“Campaign sub-committees usually do not return money but you have, again, blazed the trail.” Hon Tarka said.
He recalled that while a number of Campaign Directorates kept complaining about funding (and rightly so), the Diaspora Directorate blasted off from day one until the end of the campaigns. The Directorate took Tinubuism and APC’s Action Plan to the world and donated several campaign souvenirs worth millions of naira from Nigerians across the globe.
Madam Ene, the PCC iron lady was so overwhelmed and impressed that she reserved a section of the PCC Secretariat store for Diaspora Directorate donations which arrived in several bags and boxes on weekly basis.
Hon Tarka referred to the Cotonou rally which was held at the Cotonou Township Stadium, Stade Rene Pleven De Cotonou 11, Benin Republic. The first and only APC outdoor mega-rally outside the shores of Nigeria for the APC Presidential Candidate and the first of its kind ever.
The Cotonou rally was significant due to the number of Nigerians living within the G6 West African axis, (Ghana, Benin Republic, Togo, Cameroon, Mali and Cote d’Ivoire). There are about half a million duly registered Nigerian voters with valid permanent voter cards.
The Diaspora Directorate partnering with the G6 group, led by Ambassador Kayode Oguntuase and Hon Wale Adeyemo, mobilised progressives and supporters within this region to return home before the borders were closed to vote for our principal, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
