The Federal Government has instituted legal proceedings against former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over allegations of unlawful interception and monitoring of the telephone lines of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
According to court documents filed before a Federal High Court, the suit followed statements allegedly made by El-Rufai during an appearance on Arise Prime Time, where he reportedly made claims relating to surveillance and security matters.

The Federal Government is said to be accusing the former governor of engaging in unauthorized access to sensitive communication channels, an action considered a grave breach of national security laws and telecommunications regulations.

The prosecution argues that such conduct, if proven, undermines the integrity of the nation’s security architecture and constitutes a serious criminal offence.
While details of the charges are still emerging, sources within the legal team confirm that the matter centers on alleged interception activities targeting the office of the National Security Adviser.
The government is seeking judicial determination on the legality of the alleged actions and appropriate sanctions under the law.
As of press time, El-Rufai has yet to issue an official response to the lawsuit. Political observers note that the development adds a new dimension to the ongoing tensions between the former governor and key figures within the current administration.
More details are expected as the case proceeds in court.
