The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Prince Ade Omole as the Director of its Diaspora Directorate, Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 general elections.
This was announced in a statement issued by Lady Titi Johnson, APC Diaspora Progressives Leaders Publicity Secretary on Saturday in Abuja.
She said the appointment was in acknowledgement of the potential and fundamental role Omole and Nigerians in Diaspora could play in the quest to move the country to greater and unprecedented heights under a Tinubu presidency.
According to the statement, the primary responsibility of the APC Diaspora Directorate will be to rally Nigerians in the Diaspora to support the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
“Given the fact that Nigerians in the Diaspora are not allowed to vote in elections in Nigeria from their countries of residence.
“The directorate will guide those who may be travelling to Nigeria during the elections while implementing campaign initiatives to encourage Nigerians in the Diaspora to support APC Presidential candidate through their relations, friends, mentees and peers in Nigeria.
“Nigerians in the Diaspora have a lot to contribute to Nation-building and many would love to return to their homeland to contribute to the transformational government of an Asiwaju presidency,” the statement said.
It added that Nigerian professionals in the Diaspora would play an active role in this transformation process.
It further added that Tinubu would identify and engage competent hands in the Diaspora for the task, noting that he was reputed for using competent and professional hands to get the job done.
The statement stressed that the Nigerian Diaspora integration process would not be an exception.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that Tinubu had visited the United Kingdom earlier in the year and met with Omole and other APC stakeholders in the UK.
Tinubu at the visit assured that the Diaspora would not be left behind and advised Nigerians in the Diaspora to get more involved in the efforts to rebuild the country.
Omole is a founding member of the APC in the Diaspora, APC Diaspora leader, the convener of the Asiwaju Group (TAG) and the Chairman of the Nigeria Diaspora Voting Council (NDVC).
He is also a United Nations Anti-Corruption Ambassador and one of the 600 Nigerian icons in the Diaspora with inspiring success stories recognised by Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM)
