Saudi Arabia has officially announced the sighting of the crescent moon, marking the beginning of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan 1446.
With this confirmation, Ramadan will commence on Saturday, March 1, 2025, as millions of Muslims across the Kingdom and beyond prepare to embark on a month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection.
The sighting of the Ramadan crescent follows the traditional moon observation process conducted by religious authorities in the Kingdom. The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia had earlier called on Muslims to observe the sky for the new moon, and reports from multiple locations confirmed its visibility.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is observed worldwide by Muslims as a period of fasting from dawn to dusk, increased devotion, and acts of charity. It is a time for spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and strengthening of faith.
As the month begins, Muslims in Saudi Arabia and around the world are expected to gather for Tarawih prayers in mosques, partake in Suhoor (pre-dawn meals), and break their fast at Iftar, often with dates and water, following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
With Ramadan now officially underway, governments and religious leaders are expected to issue guidelines for observance, especially regarding congregational prayers, charity initiatives, and community gatherings.
Stay tuned for more updates on Ramadan 1446 as Muslims worldwide embark on this sacred journey of faith and devotion.
