Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his unwavering commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), amid speculations and ongoing political realignments that have seen some politicians defect to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Buhari firmly stated that he remains a staunch member of the APC and wishes to be addressed as such.

In a statement released on Thursday, Buhari emphasized his loyalty to the party that supported his successful bid for the presidency in two consecutive terms. He expressed profound gratitude for the confidence reposed in him by the APC and its leadership, vowing to continue promoting the party’s ideals and principles.

“I am an APC member, and I like to be addressed as one. I will try to popularize the party by all means,” Buhari declared, leaving no room for speculation regarding his political allegiance.

While he refrained from mentioning any specific individuals or ongoing political issues, the former president stressed that his loyalty to the APC remains steadfast. He described his time as president as an honor granted by the party and reiterated his commitment to upholding its legacy.

Buhari further acknowledged the sacrifices made by the party’s founding fathers to establish a robust political platform capable of safeguarding Nigeria’s constitution and democratic values. He emphasized that these efforts must be cherished and sustained to ensure the continued growth and development of the country’s democracy.

“As a party, the APC represents a collective vision for a better Nigeria. The pains and efforts taken to build this strong political structure are worthy of appreciation and should be nurtured by all well-meaning members,” Buhari added.

His remarks come at a time when political dynamics are shifting, with some prominent politicians recently announcing their defection to the SDP. Buhari’s statement is seen as a reaffirmation of his loyalty and dedication to the APC, even as the party navigates evolving political challenges.

Observers believe that Buhari’s stance could serve as a morale booster for APC loyalists and party faithful, reinforcing the need to remain committed to the party’s core values and objectives.
