A cargo aircraft belonging to Allied Air Cargo, with registration number 5N-JRT, veered off Runway 22 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, earlier today. The incident occurred at approximately 10:05 a.m., involving five crew members on board.

Emergency response teams swiftly mobilized, ensuring the safe evacuation of all individuals aboard the aircraft. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the crew. They were promptly transported to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) clinic for medical evaluation and precautionary checks.

The incident, while alarming, did not result in significant damage to the aircraft or disruption of airport operations. Aviation authorities have commenced investigations to ascertain the cause of the runway excursion, with preliminary reports suggesting that weather conditions or technical issues might have played a role.

FAAN officials assured the public that safety protocols were effectively implemented to manage the situation and prevent escalation. “We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency at our airports,” a FAAN representative stated.

This event highlights the critical importance of emergency preparedness in the aviation sector, and stakeholders are working to ensure such occurrences are minimized in the future. Further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
