A Deputy Director of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Auwal Jibrin has been sentenced to a six year jail term for receiving bribes.

He was convicted alongside one Garba Ismaila who also bagged seven years in jail for the same office by Justice Yusuf Birnin-Kudu of Jigawa State High Court in Gumel

Both men has been brought before the court by the EFCC, for benefiting from the $115.010m largesse of a former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, in the run-up to the 2015 presidential election.
