He is young, daring, intelligent, compassionate, progressive, innovative, accommodating, resilient and much more. His name is Dada Olusegun. He is among other things, the Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Social Media, the Convener of the famous PBAT Media Center, a magnet of young talents and most importantly, husband to Abike. On this special day, this great son of Ikorodu turns 37!

Dada Olusegun, Convener PBAT Media Center.

The life of Dada Olusegun has been so eventful that many can be forgiven to think he is currently in his mid-forties. He got involved in the struggle for a progressive Nigeria at quite a young age to the point that at 25 years of age he was already one of the very visible change advocates and voices in Nigeria’s evolving digital space.

A proud alumnus of Awori Ajeromi Grammar School in Lagos and Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomosho, Dada Olusegun, popularly known as DO, has been at the forefront of engineering social and political change in the society through the power of advocacy and leveraging the enormous power of the digital media. Dada Olusegun was one of the vocal political voices on X (formerly twitter) back in 2013 as Nigerians yearned for a better deal.

More than a decade later, Dada Olusegun is cresting an undeniable transformational footprint on the digital media space in Nigeria especially in the area of reporting governance. Rising from a disappointing 2022 APC National Convention outing, Dada Olusegun demonstrated incredible tenacity and focus by convening the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Centre (ABAT Centre) which became a congregation of the finest progressives in the Nigerian online media space.

The Center under the unwavering leadership of Dada Olusegun went on to prosecute one of the toughest online election campaigns in Nigeria and came out victorious. The reward for the daring victory was more responsibility for the general and his troops who were at the vanguard. ABAT Media Center transitioned to PBAT Media Center and the birthday boy, Dada Olusegun became Special Assistant to the President on Social Media.

The task before PBAT Media Center was even more demanding as it entails reporting the daily activities of the President and the federal government he leads in addition to explaining and communicating government policies and general governance to Nigerians using the instrumentality of the social media. Dada Olusegun, the ever innovative leader repositioned the PBAT Media Center to effectively carry out these onerous tasks.

Two years down the line, PBAT Media Center has introduced historic innovations in the digital communication space. From series such as President’s Week in Review, The Tinubu Scorecard, Heads Up, PBAT Quotes, to daily newsletters tagged The Headlines, occasional Explainers, Special Features and Podcasts, the PBAT Media Center became the face of communicating President Bola Tinubu’s visions, achievements and ongoing programmes to Nigerians on social media while also serving as a crucial channel of feedback from the public. In all these, Dada Olusegun was always at the center of it all serving as the glue that holds the Center together and the compass that points the direction of travel.

Dada Olusegun’s work ethic is extraordinary. He is a stickler for efficiency and timeliness. Crucially, he is a massive team player and a leader who doubles as a mentor. These personal qualities of Dada Olusegun have undoubtedly robbed off on many who are associated with the PBAT Center. In DO’s dictionary, impossibility is absent. This is seen in the many remarkable feats that he has led the Centre to achieve even in the face of ordinarily insurmountable obstacles. The latest of such feats is the just concluded maiden Progressives Digital Media Summit.

As our dear leader and Convener, Dada Olusegun climbs further on the famed ladder of age, everyone in PBAT Centre is very proud to celebrate a man we can confidently describe as an extraordinary human being who cares deeply not just for those who surround him but for the country he calls his father land – Nigeria!

The entire members of the PBAT Media Center and all those affiliated to the Center joyfully wish this young change agent and leader extraordinaire a happy birthday celebration. As you continue to lead us in this Renewed Hope journey, we pray to God Almighty to grant you more wisdom to innovate, more strength for greater sacrifice, more blessings to extend your compassionate reach and more importantly a very long and healthy life to continue serving your fatherland with uncommon verve.

Happy birthday Daddy D.O.!
