A ritualist den has been discovered at Oba Ajala, along the Ijaiye axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. The discovery on tuesday, 8th August brought a mammoth crowd to the section of the road at which the den was discovered.

According to reports, the ritualists must have been carrying out the acts for quite a while but the den became exposed when a LAWMA highway sweeper raised alarm yesterday that she heard the voice of a woman calling for help from the building situated close to a canal.

Members of the public and some security agents quickly mobilised and manned the opposite ends of the canal and were able to apprehend some suspects who tried to escape from the canal.

Two of the suspects were set ablaze by the irate crowd while the other three suspects were rescued from a similar fate by the security agents present, who chose to get them arrested instead.

One of the suspects caught trying to escape from the canal divulged the information that there were more than 20 of them inside the canal. Members of the Oodua People’s Congress stormed the canal and were able to drag out another suspect from within the canal.

Reports indicate that the woman who was abducted was rescued from the canal in an unconscious state and rushed to the hospital.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni said the police would carry out a thorough investigation to determine exactly what had been happening within the axis.
