Earlier today, I joined thousands of other Kogi indigenes to exercise my franchise in the ongoing gubernatorial election across the ‘Confluence State’. I must commend the umpire – INEC with the conduct of the exercise so far. Materials and ad-hoc staff arrived quite on time in all the areas I have visited. And so far, the exercise has been largely peaceful.
I will also like to commend the IG of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun for walking his talk on providing adequate security to forestall any likelihood of breakdown of law and order. Men of the Nigerian Police have been very professional in their conduct. This, I must say, is really commendable.
With today’s exercise, I am convinced Kogites will want to retain the ruling party in the State, my party – the All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to consolidate on the gains of the current administration; and to equally further enhance the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR in making life more meaningful to all people across the State.
I therefore call on all Kogites to come out in their numbers and in orderly manner to exercise their civic duty without fear of intimidation and/or harassment. I appeal to them to conduct themselves properly during this year’s #KogiDecides2023 and after the exercise has been concluded. There should be no room for any violence whatsoever. The interest of Kogi must come first and should superimpose any other personal interest.
