In celebration of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival, the Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. In his statement, the Minister extended heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim Ummah across the country and in the Diaspora, as they prepare to commemorate one of Islam’s most significant festivals.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to emulate the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, and unwavering faith demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him), which are the foundational values of the Eid-ul-Adha celebration. He also encouraged faithfuls to use the festive period to pray for unity, peace, and prosperity in Nigeria.

Reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to national development, the Minister highlighted the various people-centered policies being implemented under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He emphasized that these initiatives are designed to reposition the country for progress, stability, and inclusive growth.

While wishing the Muslim Ummah a peaceful and joyous Eid celebration, Dr. Tunji-Ojo called on all Nigerians to remain supportive of the government’s efforts in rebuilding the nation and restoring its standing as a great and prosperous country.

The statement was signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior
