The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, DIG Frank Mba, has voluntarily retired from the Nigeria Police Force after an illustrious 34 years of service.
Mba, one of the most recognizable and respected figures within the force, officially bowed out amid a wave of retirements involving several senior officers in the police hierarchy.
His retirement follows recent leadership changes within the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the retirement of former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the subsequent appointment of IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu as the new head of the force.
A seasoned police officer and accomplished communicator, Mba served in several strategic roles throughout his career. Before his appointment as Deputy Inspector-General in charge of Training and Development, he held positions including Force Public Relations Officer, where he became the public face of the police and played a major role in shaping the force’s communication strategy.
Known for his eloquence, professionalism, and commitment to modern policing, Mba contributed significantly to police reforms, capacity building, and public engagement during his decades-long career.
Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has commenced the screening of seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) for possible elevation to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG). The screening exercise is part of ongoing efforts to fill vacancies created by recent retirements within the top echelon of the force.
The development signals a broader restructuring within the Nigeria Police Force, as the new leadership under IGP Disu seeks to reposition the institution and strengthen operational efficiency.
Observers note that the retirements and promotion processes are expected to usher in a new generation of leadership within the force, while also maintaining continuity in policing operations across the country.
Further announcements regarding successful candidates for promotion are expected from the Police Service Commission upon completion of the screening exercise.
