Give to Africa, a California-based nonprofit focused on community-led development across the African continent, is gaining attention for its unique model of international giving that puts African grassroots leaders at the center of change.
Founded in 2023 and led by nonprofit strategist Victoria Philips, the organization has developed a rapidly growing platform that connects generous donors with vetted, local nonprofits across Africa, making it easier to give across borders with transparency, accountability, and measurable impact.
“At Give to Africa, we believe African communities don’t need saving. What they need is support,” said Philips. “We are here to unlock global generosity and direct it toward local solutions that work.”

Give to Africa supports frontline initiatives in areas such as education, climate resilience, healthcare, food security, gender equity and Sports Development. It achieves this by offering fiscal sponsorship, on-the-ground storytelling support, and donor-facing tools that help community-based nonprofits across the continent gain visibility, secure funding, and sustainably scale their impact.
What sets Give to Africa apart is its exclusive focus on African-led organizations. Each nonprofit partner is carefully vetted and supported through long-term partnerships and capacity-building initiatives, ensuring that local leaders are the ones shaping their own communities’ futures.
“Whether it’s a women’s cooperative in Senegal or a youth mentorship program in Nigeria, we work directly with those on the ground who are already doing the work,” Philips added. “Our job is to walk alongside them, not in front of them.”
The organization also emphasizes connection through technology. Its digital giving platform enables donors, especially those in the African diaspora, to track the impact of their contributions through real-time stories and updates, fostering both transparency and trust.
Give to Africa encourages supporters to get involved in a variety of ways. From sponsoring grassroots campaigns to joining its Ambassador Program or hosting community-giving events, the nonprofit aims to build a global movement of justice-minded citizens who believe in African innovation.
“Every donation is a seed of hope,” said Philips. “Our mission is to make sure every donation grows, nurtured by local wisdom and fueled by global generosity.”
As Give to Africa continues to grow its network of nonprofits, foundations, and supporters, the organization remains anchored in a philosophy of equity, dignity, and collaboration. Its long-term
goal? To shift power and resources into the hands of the African changemakers who are building sustainable futures from within.
