Amidst the political crisis involving Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in Ondo State, Charles Oludare Ojo, a public affairs analyst, voiced concerns during an interview with Arise TV. He criticized the move by some individuals who have filed a case that could potentially activate section 189 of the Constitution, leading to the removal of the governor
In Ojo’s perspective, a more constructive approach would be appointing the deputy governor as acting governor. This solution, he argued, would allow for the smooth functioning of the state while Governor Akeredolu focuses on his health.
In Ojo’s words: “Now some people have gone to court to file a case that might lead to activating section 189, if activated and Governor Akeredolu is not in good health, it will lead to his ouster. They could do something that is a lot better which is essentially making the deputy governor the acting governor so that he can continue running the whole of the state while the governor recuperates or treats himself”.
