The political landscape of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos, yesterday, was charged with excitement as the Executive Chairman, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, received a rousing welcome while formally declaring his bid for a second term in office. The declaration, which took place in the presence of top political figures, party stakeholders, and loyal supporters, further solidified his influence and leadership within the LCDA.
The grand event was graced by several key figures of the Apex Body (G17), the highest decision-making organ of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifelodun LCDA. The G17 is chaired by Hon. Taiwo Oyewole Adenekan, the first Executive Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA. Other notable personalities in attendance included:
• Hon. Kolawole Taiwo – Former Deputy Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly
• Hon. Lukman Sa’ad Olumoh – Incumbent House of Assembly Member, Lagos State House of Assembly (Constituency 01)
• Hon. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun – Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education
• Hon. Fatai Shuaib Ajidagba – Immediate past Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA

Beyond the G17, the event also saw the presence of the incumbent Vice Chairman of the LCDA, Alhaja Adetoun Ojora-Adejiyan and all other Executive Members led by the Secretary to the LCDA, Hon. Rahmon Rasheed Lanre; all seven ward councillors, led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Fatima Atinuke Salaudeen. Other key groups, including the Council Advisory Committee (CAC), the Ifelodun LCDA Super Women group, and the seven ward chairmen headed by Alhaji Habeeb Awolere, stood in strong support of Mayor Okeowo’s second-term bid, underscoring the widespread backing for Okeowo’s re-election.
The declaration event was held at the residence of Hon. Taiwo Adenekan, the Apex Body Chairman, marking a pivotal moment in the political journey of Mayor Okeowo. His first term has been widely acknowledged for its developmental strides, and with the overwhelming support displayed at this event, his ambition for a second term seems to have gained strong momentum.
As the campaign officially kicks off, the event sends a clear message: Ifelodun LCDA stands united behind Mayor Okeowo, reaffirming his leadership and commitment to the progress of the council.
