The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has addressed recent media reports alleging safety violations by Airpeace Airlines at Gatwick Airport, UK.
These reports suggested that safety inspectors from the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority had raised concerns.
Airpeace, the Nigerian flag carrier on the London route, operates with the full backing of the Nigerian government. Minister Keyamo emphasized that he has been thoroughly briefed by the Acting Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on the matter.
According to the briefing, the management of Airpeace has effectively resolved the safety issues to the satisfaction of UK authorities.
“The Federal Government has full confidence in the safety of operations conducted by all Nigerian flag carriers on international routes, including Airpeace,” stated Keyamo. “We will continue to support these airlines in achieving world-class operational standards.”
Keyamo reiterated the Nigerian government’s unwavering support for local airlines designated for international routes, ensuring they receive necessary assistance and cooperation for their operations.
Airpeace remains a key player in Nigeria’s international aviation sector, and the government stands firmly behind it and other local carriers to ensure their success and adherence to safety standards.
