... commence a 3-day Annual Media Retreat

Conference 57 Chief Press Secretaries (CPS), a group of grassroots media aides to council chairmen across the 57 Local Governments (LG) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDA), in Lagos state have applauded President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on grassroots development in the state.

The group in a statement released recently, said the vision of President Tinubu towards creation of 37 LCDAs’ during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, was responsible for the initiation of landmark projects in the existing 20 Local Governments and 37 LCDAs’ in the state.

The Chairman of Conference 57 CPS Ayeyemi Ayodele, stated this ahead of the commencement of the 3- day Annual Media Retreat for the group tagged: ‘Surulere 2023’.

Venue of the event according to CPS Ayeyemi, is at NAPTIN Centre, Surulere, Lagos.

He said that this year’s media retreat for CPS, and which will be the sixth edition is dedicated to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He described the leadership skills of Mr. President as ‘unparalleled’. And noting that President Tinubu’s mentorship roles in the discovery and empowerment of leaders has yielded positive results in the grassroots.

According to CPS Ayeyemi: “The creation of LCDAs’ led to healthy rivalry among leadership of various councils which in turn created room for developmental competition among ‘LGs’ and LCDAs’.

“This brought development and dividends of democracy closer to the people, as well as opening a massive window for job opportunities,” the statement reads in part.

The CPS chairman Ayeyemi, however, expressed hope that the LCDAs’ will receive necessary legislative attention to be enlisted in the constitution, during tenure of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Among the special guests billed for the CPS media retreat are, Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Chief of Staff to the President Hon Femi Gbajabiamila.

The host of the event is Bariga LCDA chairman Hon. Alabi Kolade David who doubles as President of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), and Hon. Bamidele Yusuf council chairman of Surulere Local Government as chief host.
