In preparation for the Lagos State Local Government Elections, the Lagos State Police Command has declared a total restriction of vehicular movement across the state from 3:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025. This restriction applies to all roads and waterways within the state’s jurisdiction.

According to a statement issued by the Command, the measure is aimed at ensuring the smooth and secure conduct of the electoral process. The police emphasized that armed escorts, security aides, and the indiscriminate use of sirens or covered number plates are strictly prohibited during this period.

No vehicles belonging to quasi-security outfits or state security agencies are permitted to operate on election duty, in compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act. Exemptions, however, apply to personnel offering essential services, such as medical emergencies, accredited LASIEC officials, election observers, and media professionals—all of whom must wear LASIEC-certified identification tags.

The Command led by CP Moshood Jiohalso issued a stern warning to miscreants and political thugs to steer clear of polling units and collation centres. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities via the emergency numbers: 08063299264 and 08065154338.
