The Lagos State Government has officially refuted recent claims made by Mr. Peter Obi alleging that a property belonging to his brother was demolished by state authorities.

In a statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, the government clarified that neither the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) nor any other state agency was involved in the said demolition.

Dr. Olajide Abiodun Babatunde, Special Adviser on eGIS and Urban Development and the supervising authority over LASBCA, also affirmed that the agency had no hand in the alleged incident. The government described the claims as “unverified” and “disturbing,” expressing disappointment that such allegations were made without substantiating facts.

Reiterating its commitment to law, order, and the protection of lives and property, the Lagos State Government assured residents that any act of illegality would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.
To this end, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Urban Development, Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, FNIA, has been directed to commission a comprehensive investigation through LASBCA to ascertain the true circumstances surrounding the incident.
The government called on the public to disregard the allegations and reaffirmed its openness to all law-abiding citizens who wish to live and work in Lagos.
