The Lagos State Government has issued a security alert to residents of Ajah and its environs following intelligence reports of attempts by certain non-state actors to instigate unrest in the community.
According to information gathered from security operatives, there are credible threats of a deliberate plan to disrupt peace and order in the area. In response, the State Government has assured residents that it is fully aware of the underlying issues within the Ajah community and remains committed to addressing them through dialogue, fairness, and peaceful engagement.
In a statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert, the Government advised residents and stakeholders to desist from any action that could escalate tensions or undermine the peace of the area. He stressed that maintaining law and order is paramount to ensuring safety and stability in Ajah and across Lagos State.
To forestall any breakdown of order, security agencies have been directed to remain on high alert, intensify surveillance, and prevent unlawful gatherings or violent activities. The agencies have also been mandated to conduct thorough investigations and ensure that anyone found culpable is apprehended and prosecuted in line with the laws of Lagos State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Reaffirming the administration’s resolve, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu pledged that his government will continue to safeguard lives and property, while promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development across the State.
The Government further appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, and civil society organisations within Ajah to work closely with law enforcement agencies to sustain harmony and foster mutual understanding in the interest of all.
