The management of the Lagos State University (LASU) has ban various indecent dressing such as of face caps, rolled sleeves, miniskirts and other indecent styles on campus.
This was issued in a circular by the management, the school’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, ordering lecturers in the institution to deny students from gaining access to lecture halls due to indecent dressing.
She advised the school provosts, deans, department heads, and faculty officers in order to ensure that students dress well within the schools premises. Wearing transparent dresses, mini/skimpy dresses and other clothes that reveal sensitive parts of the body was prohibited and highlighted in the circular released.
The outlined indecent dressing codes released by the Institution include wearing transparent dresses, dirty jeans with holes or obscene subliminal messages, mini and skimpy skirts/dresses, and other clothes revealing sensitive parts of the body, particularly by ladies, tattered clothes, “baggy”, “saggy”and all other forms of indecent trousers. Shirts and tops with obscene write-ups, tight-fitting apparel, rolling of sleeves or flying of shirt collars, obnoxious or seductive inscription; improperly buttoned shirts dresses, shirts without buttons, complete covering of faces or wearing of face caps; piercing of body and tattooing; wearing of necklace and earrings by male students, wearing of very big dropping earrings, wearing of necklaces and nose ring by students.
The school has also warned students against indecent/distractive shoes and other act such as putting on heels to the library or lecture rooms, plaiting, weaving or bonding of hair by male students. Lousy slippers, unkempt, brightly tinted hair/eyelashes/brown, extremely bogus hair or coloured artificial hair, artificial dreadlocks, fixing of long eyelashes and nails.
