In a powerful statement on his Instagram Story, Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has taken a stand against the English media’s treatment of Black footballers. Sharing a post that calls for increased accountability within the press, Hamilton specifically expressed support for Arsenal and England star Bukayo Saka.

Hamilton’s message highlighted the ongoing issue of racial discrimination in sports coverage, condemning the media for their persistent scapegoating of Black players. He stated, “We need to hold the English media accountable for systemically vilifying Black players. The constant scapegoating of Black players needs to stop. This endemic racial discrimination has no place in football, yet countless news outlets suggest otherwise.”

The seven-time World Champion’s intervention comes in the wake of repeated incidents where Black footballers, including Saka, have faced unjust criticism and racial abuse. Hamilton’s comments reflect growing frustration among athletes and the wider public regarding the media’s role in perpetuating negative stereotypes and biases.

Hamilton, known for his activism both on and off the track, has previously spoken out against racism and inequality. His latest statement underscores the urgent need for systemic change within sports journalism and broader media practices.

By using his platform to amplify these concerns, Hamilton is calling for a more equitable and respectful treatment of all players, urging the media to abandon discriminatory narratives and support inclusivity in sports.
