In a single historic day, South African entrepreneur, philanthropist, and diplomat Moleboheng Matli walked away with two prestigious accolades, further cementing her reputation as a transformative leader in Africa’s business and social impact landscape.
On August 30, 2025, Matli’s remarkable journey was celebrated twice, first in abstentia at the Real Women of the Vaal Awards (RWVA 2025) earlier in the day, and later in person at the 100 African Women Achievers Awards (AWAA 2025) in Sandton.

The RWVA, hosted in southern Johannesburg, recognized Matli with the RWAVA 2025 Business Excellence Award, despite her absence at the ceremony. Later in the evening, the spotlight shifted to Sandton, Africa’s financial hub, where Matli graced the red carpet at the AWAA 2025. There, she was named among the 100 African Women Achievers and also bestowed the coveted Icon of Africa for Economic Enhancement Award.

Despite the glitz and celebration, Matli’s response reflected her trademark humility:
“All these accolades are a sign that there is much still to be done.”
Her words embody her philosophy that awards are not endpoints but reminders of responsibility. For Matli, that responsibility lies in creating platforms where women’s voices are heard, seen, and respected.

Seventeen years into her entrepreneurial journey, Matli continues to grow her multinational ventures, Mmadipotwana Media and Matli Investment Holdings, while simultaneously pursuing her PhD to deepen her expertise. Her lifestyle brand, Southgerian Lifestyle, is also set for expansion, branching beyond its flagship publication into exciting new avenues.
From the red carpets of Johannesburg to the boardrooms of Africa’s leading economies, Moleboheng Matli’s impact is undeniable. Her recognition by both RWVA and AWAA in one day stands not only as a personal triumph but also as an inspiration to women and leaders across the African continent.
