Muhammed Babangida, son of former Head of State General Ibrahim Babangida, has officially accepted his appointment as Chairman of the newly restructured Bank of Agriculture (BOA), expressing profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him.
In a statement issued earlier today, Babangida refuted reports making the rounds on social media claiming he had rejected the appointment. Describing the reports as “false, malicious, and deliberately misleading,” he stated that the publication was a calculated attempt to misinform the public and undermine the integrity of the Tinubu administration.
“We wish to categorically state that Muhammed Babangida has gladly accepted his appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture and is honoured by the trust President Tinubu has placed in him,” the statement read.
The statement further emphasized that the campaign of misinformation would not go unchecked, revealing that efforts were underway to identify the originators of the falsehood and bring them to justice.
“We want to reassure Nigerians that this matter will be investigated thoroughly, and those behind the baseless claims will be held accountable. This administration and its appointees remain committed to the values of transparency, service, and national unity,” it added.
The statement concluded with an appeal to the public to rely on credible sources for information and avoid being swayed by unverified narratives.
Muhammed Babangida’s appointment was part of a series of high-level appointments recently approved by President Tinubu, aimed at revitalizing critical sectors and ensuring robust leadership within key government institutions.
