Citizens of Nigeria applying for passports will be charged N1000 (one thousand naira) in Nigeria for the verification of their National Identification Number(NIN). The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) disclosed this in a statement signed by its Head, Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, on the 13th of March 2023. According to the commission statement, the fee is to improve the quality of service, accuracy, and speed of passport services through timely verification of National Identification Number(NIN).
