Edo residents are absolutely losing it over Governor Godwin Obaseki and his chosen successor, Asue Ighodalo, who were caught living the high life with a bottle of Don Pérignon during a live interview. Talk about timing! The dynamic duo decided to chat with the press from what looks suspiciously like a drinking lounge, and people are not impressed.

If you zoom in on the picture, you’ll see the setup: mics from Channels TV and others on the table, glasses of champagne at the ready, and the pièce de résistance—a bottle of Don Pérignon sneakily hiding under the table. Yep, it’s the classic move from your local beer parlour, where after downing a few, you shove the empty bottles under the table to keep up appearances. But come on, guys, you’re not fooling anyone!

Now, residents are fuming. It’s one thing to have a tipple on the job, but half a million Naira champagne? In this economy? It’s like rubbing salt in the wound. And let’s not forget, this lavish display happened right in the middle of a strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). Talk about reading the room!

So, why hide the bottle, gentlemen? If you’re going to splurge on champagne, at least be upfront about it. Or better yet, save the celebrations for when the economic crisis is over. Right now, the only thing popping is your approval ratings.

Only God knows how many bottles went down ,well the worries have been huge and we want your take on this matter is it right for The Governor and his anointed candidate to be drinking on an interview set?
