Ojodu LCDA came alive on Tuesday, 30th October, as the council rolled out the drums for its spectacular Yoruba Cultural Day Celebration, a colourful fusion of heritage, language, music, and tradition that electrified the atmosphere.

The event, held at the council secretariat, was nothing short of a cultural carnival. Council staff, management and political leadership adorned resplendent traditional attires from flowing agbadas to vibrant iro and buba, proudly showcasing the depth and elegance of Yoruba fashion. The celebration featured captivating cultural displays, traditional drumming, and energetic dance performances that kept the audience enthralled.

Representing the Executive Chairman, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Funmilayo Layeni, described the programme as a bold statement of the council’s unwavering commitment to preserving Yoruba values, language and traditions while fostering unity, inclusivity and communal pride.

One of the highlights of the day was the keenly contested Dancing Competition and Best Traditional Attire Contest, which saw council staff thrill the audience with graceful steps and dazzling outfits. Winners emerged in both male and female categories, drawing applause and cheers from the crowd.

The cultural extravaganza reached its peak with a delightful display of Yoruba cuisine. Guests and participants relished steaming plates of amala, ewedu, gbegiri and assorted local delicacies, all washed down with refreshing palm wine, adding an authentic taste of Yoruba hospitality to the celebration
