The Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, has officially endorsed the highly anticipated TwinFest Africana 2024, a flagship cultural event dedicated to celebrating twins and multiple births across Africa. The endorsement ceremony took place in the presence of one of the event organizers, Engr. Bola Babarinde, alongside the twin models for the event, Taiwo and Kehinde Yakubu, both residents of Ojodu LCDA.
In his address during the endorsement, Hon. Odunmbaku lauded the festival’s objectives, describing it as a powerful platform for promoting social cohesion while preserving and showcasing African cultural heritage. “In Yorubaland, twins hold a unique and revered place in our traditions. By celebrating them, we not only preserve our rich heritage but also promote unity and understanding among our people,” he noted.
Engr. Bola Babarinde, a key organizer and member of the Nigerian Diaspora Community, emphasized that TwinFest Africana 2024 is part of a larger mission to drive progress within Nigeria’s cultural tourism and hospitality sectors. “Nigeria is brimming with potential, and events like TwinFest Africana highlight our capacity to harness our cultural assets for national growth. This festival is a platform to celebrate our uniqueness while contributing to socio-economic development,” he said.
The event is billed to be held on 23rd & 24th of August, 2024 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The event promises a lively celebration, featuring traditional dances, musical performances, competitions with exciting prizes, art exhibitions centered on twins and African heritage, and many more attractions. “TwinFest Africana 2024 is more than a cultural festival; it’s a powerful tribute to unity, diversity, and our collective traditions as Africans,” Engr. Babarinde added.
In addition to Ojodu LCDA’s backing, the festival has also garnered support from other prominent local government areas and local council development areas (LCDAs). These include Ifelodun LCDA, led by Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo; Ifako-Ijaiye LGA, under the leadership of Executive Chairman Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat; and Lagos Island LGA, headed by Prince Tijani Adetoyese Olusi. Their endorsement underscores the wide-reaching impact and significance of the event within Lagos State and beyond.
