The name of Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area, has long been synonymous with quality leadership and purposeful governance. His first term established him as a benchmark for responsive and forward-thinking administration at the grassroots level. Yet, with the launch of his second-term agenda, HEYSRELOADED AGENDA. Hon Segun Odunmbaku is charting an even more ambitious, inclusive and far-reaching path of development.

The redesigned policy blueprint builds on the successes of the pioneering HEYS Agenda (Health, Education, Youth & Women Development, and Social Infrastructure), which earned widespread commendation for its transformative impact. HEYS Reloaded expands that vision, broadening access, deepening community participation and intensifying delivery across all sectors to ensure that governance remains people-centred, equitable, and sustainable.

With his HEYS RELOADED vision powering his second term, Odunmbaku has taken the template further, broadening its reach, deepening its impact and elevating Ojodu LCDA as one of Lagos’ most forward-thinking grassroots administrations. His first 100 Days in Office have become a compelling display of inclusive, measurable and people-centered governance.

The Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, marked his 100 Days in Office with a renewed wave of activities and community-focused programmes that have drawn commendation from residents, stakeholders and civic groups across the district.

From his inaugural address, Odunmbaku made one thing unmistakably clear: governance must not only be done for the people, but with the people.

“Governance must be visible. Governance must be measurable. Governance must be felt,” he declared before a crowd of political leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, artisans, professionals, and market clusters who gathered for his 100 Days celebration.

The Chairman emphasized that these early achievements were not a victory lap but a report of stewardship, a demonstration of accountability and a reaffirmation of shared ownership of the Ojodu development story.

Widely regarded for his results-driven leadership style, Hon. Odunmbaku has, within this short period, demonstrated an unwavering commitment to delivering governance that is practical, inclusive, and tailored to the needs of the people. His administration has implemented a series of impactful initiatives that cut across social welfare, healthcare, community infrastructure, youth development and economic empowerment.

Some of the standout initiatives are distribution of vocational starter packs such as sewing machines, ovens, welding equipment, inverters, hair dryers, printers, grinding machines, cobbling tools, ICT devices and cash support for market women (₦100,000 each for 20 beneficiaries) with (₦50,000 cash grants to 50 Persons With Disabilities).

Free Interest Loans of up to 2 Million Naira in partnership with THRIVE Microfinance Scheme for SME support. Food palliatives for vulnerable households and distribution of 40 laptops to digital skills graduates and launch of OjoduWorks App, a digital platform linking artisans to customers.

The administration also rolled out fuel vouchers for commercial transport operators (₦10,000 fuel for 100 Keke operators, ₦20,000 for 50 Korope operators,₦20,000 for Buses), a first-of-its-kind intervention aimed at cushioning the effects of rising fuel costs on both drivers and commuters. The Chairman personally joined officials at the fuel station to supervise the distribution, a gesture that residents described as evidence of a hands-on and compassionate leadership style.

In the area of healthcare, the administration introduced a weekly geriatric outreach programme across all wards, with Ward E recently hosting medical consultations, physiotherapy services, nursing care, ambulance support, and free essential drugs for elderly residents. This initiative has been hailed as a major step toward bringing healthcare closer to the doorstep of the aged and vulnerable.

Hon. Odunmbaku’s administration has also delivered one of the most impactful health interventions in the LCDA’s history through mega health missions with Eko Club Atlanta, providing thousands with medical tests, medications and specialist consultations, over 600 free mini-surgeries for conditions such as lipoma, hernia, breast lumps, keloids and more.

He has also implemented modernisation of Powerline PHC, Akiode PHC and Gbadamosi PHC that has gotten various stages of completion and near completion.

The Odunmbaku administration has also launched E-Birth Registration across the LCDA with environmental health campaigns to enhance sanitation and registered 500 residents to get enrolled in LASHMA health insurance whilst facilitating a new SDG Mini General Hospital to Ojodu LCDA in his commitment to accessible, affordable and community based healthcare.

In the education sector, the administration distributed school bags, books and materials to all seven public primary schools and organized a ₦1.5 million teacher empowerment grants (5th edition) to encourage performance.

Distributed Free GCE forms and provided tutorial support for secondary school students while providing Early Digital literacy training (TCK) for 500 primary school pupils with ICT certification training for 150 youths alongside HTA vocational training, soilless farming training at  Soilless Farm Labs and CNG conversion training for over 30 youths.

This deliberate grooming of a digitally skilled youth population aims to position Ojodu LCDA as a hub of future-ready talent.

On infrastructure, the Council has intensified preparatory works for the construction of two major link bridges connecting Adeniyi Oke to Adeshina Street, and Lisabi Street to CMCM, aimed at easing traffic flow and improving inter-community mobility between Akiode and Oke Ira. Residents say the project underscores the Chairman’s long-term vision for a more connected and accessible Ojodu.

From supporting cultural festivals and renovating traditional palaces to deploying solar-powered boreholes and expanding drainage networks, the administration continues to build a community that works for everyone.

Hon. Segun  Odunmbaku also strengthened grassroots engagement through sports development, highlighted by the ongoing DOS Mega Football Cup Final, which has energized youth participation and fostered community unity. Welfare programmes, environmental interventions, and empowerment schemes have also featured prominently in the 100-day achievements.

As the celebration continues, many residents and community leaders have described Hon. Segun Odunmbaku’s first 100 Days as a promising foundation for a more prosperous and inclusive Ojodu. They note that his administration has not only delivered visible projects but has also rekindled public confidence in local governance by prioritizing the people above all else.

With these strides, the Chairman is widely seen as setting a new benchmark for effective and people-centered administration in Ojodu LCDA.

Hon. Segun Odunmbaku’s first 100 days are more than a milestone, they are a manifesto in action. With HEYSRELOADED propelling a new era of inclusive, measurable and people-centered governance, Ojodu LCDA stands as a benchmark for what grassroots leadership can achieve when the people are placed at the heart of development.

If this is the beginning, the next four years promise to be transformational with full modernization of all PHCs, expansion of SME credit access, wider digital training for youths, intensified road and drainage execution, school uniforms for public schools, solarization of schools and public facilities, growth of soilless farming clusters and consolidation of youth enterprise programmes as the full rollout of HEYSRELOADED AGENDA of the Olusegun Odunmbaku administration continues to build a more prosperous and inclusive Ojodu LCDA.
