Salient Times Online reported on January 24, 2026, that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Senator Rasheed Ladoja, expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, stating that Nigeria’s challenges, while more complex than those of Lagos State, are well within the President’s understanding.
Ladoja, who is also a former Governor of Oyo State, made these remarks following a courtesy visit to President Tinubu in Abuja. The visit was primarily to express gratitude for Tinubu’s attendance at his coronation in September. “I have been trying to come since September 26 to thank him for finding the time to attend my coronation,” Ladoja stated. He added that he was “very happy with what is happening in the country.”
Reflecting on Tinubu’s governance style, Ladoja highlighted the President’s experience as a former Lagos State governor. “If you know where he’s coming from, you know that he knows what he’s doing,” Ladoja said. He acknowledged that Nigeria is a more intricate entity than a state, with diverse national aspirations. Ladoja also noted that states now possess greater financial resources than during his tenure, enabling them to meet their obligations more effectively. He expressed optimism that the President’s economic reforms would yield enduring positive outcomes, envisioning Nigeria in a state of pride by the end of Tinubu’s term in 2031.
However, Ladoja also urged the Federal Government to increase its focus on critical issues such as food security, healthcare, and insecurity, which he identified as the most urgent concerns. “We expect the government to work more on food and health. We should have standard hospitals where we can treat our people. But the major problem we really have now is insecurity,” he emphasized, noting that the fear of insecurity is hindering farming and economic activities nationwide, even spreading to the South. Despite these challenges, Ladoja believes they are “insurmountable” and expressed faith that the President is addressing them effectively.
