The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmen in Osun State has reiterated its unwavering support for Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, the immediate past governor of the state and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, as their preferred candidate for the 2026 governorship election. Describing Oyetola as their “compass and guide,” the Forum expressed its strong desire for him to return and complete his constitutionally recognized two terms in office.

Speaking through its Chairman, Elder Rufus Awotidoye, the Forum emphasized Oyetola’s pivotal role as the Apex Leader of the APC in Osun State. They affirmed their readiness to follow his leadership, whether he chooses to contest or designate another candidate for the party’s ticket.

“Our leader, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, is our candidate for the 2026 election. We want him to contest so he can complete his constitutionally recognized two terms. Unless he declines to run, we are solidly behind him. However, if he decides not to contest, we trust his wisdom to guide us in choosing a suitable candidate,” Awotidoye stated.

The Forum lauded Oyetola’s reputation for fairness, equity, and justice, highlighting his leadership qualities and his consistent commitment to the party’s unity.

The declarations were made during a luncheon hosted at the Osogbo residence of Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, Executive Director (Projects Implementation) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA). The gathering served as a platform for party chairmen to discuss strategies for the 2026 election and express gratitude for Oyetola’s leadership.

Forum members commended Oyetola’s financial and moral support to the party since November 2022, despite no longer serving as governor. They also praised his ability to maintain the party’s cohesion during challenging times.

Omowaiye, in his remarks, appreciated the Forum for their loyalty and assured them that the APC is poised to regain power in Osun State in 2026. He criticized the current administration led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing it as a “colossal failure” despite the state’s significant revenue accruals over the past 26 months.

He further acknowledged Nigerians’ support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, assuring citizens that ongoing reforms in the petroleum and housing sectors would soon yield positive results. “President Tinubu has mandated us to provide low-cost and affordable housing for Nigerians, and that is what we are striving to achieve at FHA,” Omowaiye stated.

In his address, Elder J. Oni, the Apex Leader of APC in Atakumosa East Local Government, urged party members to remain steadfast and loyal to Oyetola, warning against being misled by political opportunists. He reassured members that Oyetola would address all concerns should he decide not to recontest in 2026.

The meeting witnessed the attendance of 58 out of the 69 APC local government chairmen in Osun State, alongside other notable party leaders. Key attendees included Chief Adegboye Ajeleti, Apex Leader of APC in Ilesa West; Elder J. Oni, Apex Leader of APC in Atakumosa East; Hon. Kola Obeta; Alhaji Tajudeen Agbeti, State Exco member from Ilesa West; and Hon. Segun Olabode, former Chairman of Ilesa West Local Government.

The Forum also extended its gratitude to President Tinubu for his support for the Osun APC and reaffirmed their commitment to his administration’s vision.
