Osun State Elections, Way Forward For APC By Aremu Toyin

In the wake of the just-concluded gubernatorial election in Osun State, it is important that all members of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) embrace unity on all fronts. The beauty of the democratic process is to have a house, a political party here, that is not divided against itself, thus making it impregnable and formidable and its goals achievable.

Using this medium, I urge all aggrieved members of this great party to show the spirit of comradeship and the willingness to have the rancour that sprang up prior to the election solved. That said, the party is  advised to deploy our internal reconciliatory mechanism, which has always worked for us, to bin this menace and work collectively for the progress of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) across the federation.

Knowing full well that politics is a numbers game, we cannot afford to lose any member because of indifference to sensitive issues rearing their ugly head in the party at the state and federal levels. It is our goal to retain power at the federal and state levels, especially in states where our party remains strong as well as having helmsmen in states where we have yet to capture come 2023.

To achieve the preceding, it is our responsibility to ensure that we use every legitimate means to promote internal democracy in the party by crushing our egos, sorting our differences and coming together to strategise how to make the party attractive to the electorate, interested persons who want to join and aggrieved party members who have at one point left and how to forestall future occurrences.

In conclusion, I call for the improvement of the reward system for party loyalists and encouragement of members, thereby fostering faithful service to the party as well as accentuating our ideologies. United we stand; divided we fall. Long live, Nigeria!Long live, The All Progressives’ Congress!
