The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) leader and former Federal Commissioner for Information, Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, has passed away at the age of 97.
His death was confirmed in an official statement released by a family representative, Prof. C. C. Clark, on Tuesday. The statement conveyed the family’s deep sorrow and announced that the revered elder statesman breathed his last on Monday, February 17, 2025.
“The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, on Monday, 17th February 2025. Chief Edwin Clark was a towering figure in Nigerian politics and a staunch advocate for the rights of the Niger Delta region. Over the decades, he played a crucial role in shaping national discourse, particularly in resource control, good governance, and regional development.
Born in 1927 in Kiagbodo, Delta State, Clark’s illustrious career spanned public service, activism, and mentorship. As a key player in Nigeria’s political evolution, he served as Federal Commissioner for Information during the Yakubu Gowon administration and remained a vocal voice for justice and equity until his passing.
