Operatives Recover N2.25 Million, Two Locally Fabricated Rifles and 11 Live Cartridges
In a significant breakthrough, the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two more suspects linked to the abduction of Mrs. Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu. Acting on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, the Lagos State CP Special Squad arrested the suspects—27-year-old Agbojule Smart and 30-year-old Keleke Michael—early Friday morning, January 24, 2025.
The suspects were intercepted while attempting to flee Lagos State. During interrogation, they confessed to being part of a four-member gang responsible for the high-profile kidnapping. Two other members of the gang had previously been neutralized by law enforcement during earlier operations.
Items recovered from the suspects include N2.25 million, believed to be part of the ransom paid for Mrs. Odumosu’s release, as well as two locally fabricated rifles and 11 live cartridges. The arrests and recoveries further underline the resolve of the Nigeria Police Force to tackle violent crimes and ensure the safety of citizens.
The Inspector-General of Police commended the operatives for their bravery and professionalism in tracking and apprehending the suspects. He urged officers nationwide to sustain the momentum in the fight against crime in all its forms.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to the safety and security of all Nigerians,” the IGP said. “We will continue to work tirelessly to reduce criminal activities to the barest minimum and foster peace and stability across the nation.”
The arrests mark a significant step forward in the ongoing investigation into the case, and the police have assured the public that all efforts are being made to apprehend any remaining members of the gang and bring them to justice.
