The Presidency has firmly dismissed a viral report circulating on social media claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 25, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, described the report as entirely false and misleading. He clarified that there has been no change in the leadership of the Office of the Chief of Staff, stressing that Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila remains fully in office and continues to discharge his duties.

Mr. Onanuga also affirmed that Hakeem Muri-Okunola remains the Principal Private Secretary to the President and has not been appointed to replace the Chief of Staff in any capacity.

According to the Presidency, the false claim is the handiwork of mischievous individuals bent on spreading fake news and sowing discord within the government. Nigerians were therefore urged to disregard the report in its entirety.

The Presidency further cautioned media organisations and social media users to always verify information from credible and official sources before publication or circulation, in the interest of responsible journalism and national stability.
