God’s ways are different from that of men. Once God is prepared to reward a man, HE will prepare the grounds Himself. This is exactly what happened in the president-elect’s case,Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

While Rauf Aregbesola was with him, the former Lagos commissioner for works ensured no one else was close to Asiwaju especially from the South West. From Akeredolu to Amosun, Fayemi and the like. Only the late Ajimobi was able to neutralise his machination.

He came to Osun with the sole agenda of driving his ambition of becoming the Yoruba leader. It was for the same reason he plunged Osun into avoidable indebtedness.

But God sent Adegboyega Oyetola to the rescue in Osun. However, because of inordinate aspiration of wanting to run for the presidency, he picked up quarrel with Tinubu using Oyetola as the lunch pad.

Once he realised his ambition wouldn’t fly, he pitched his tent with Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. And together, they met their Waterloo.

If Aregbesola were still to be with Tinubu, the president-elect would have lost the support of Akeredolu, Amosun, Fayemi and other refined politicians because of who Aregbesola, for his obsession with power, fenced off from Asiwaju. And if this had happened, the north would have concluded Tinubu had no political base. The Jagaban of Borgu, definitely, would have lost the support and in the end lost the APC presidential ticket.

As we prepare for the Tinubu presidency, Aregbesola, of course, may be forgiven if he truly shows remorse, but he must be denied the hitherto access for there is no point being at peace with someone who is never at peace with himself.
