In a significant move aimed at bolstering the efficiency and integrity of Nigeria’s civil service, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. Her tenure is set to commence on August 14, 2024.

Mrs. Walson-Jack, who has a distinguished career within the civil service, was appointed as a Federal Permanent Secretary in 2017. Over the years, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment while serving in various key ministries. Her extensive experience and proven track record have made her a standout choice for this pivotal role.

The newly appointed Head of the Civil Service will succeed Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, CFR, who is scheduled to retire on August 13, 2024. Dr. Yemi-Esan has been lauded for her exemplary service and significant contributions during her tenure, which have been instrumental in driving reforms and improving the operational efficiency of the civil service.

President Tinubu expressed his gratitude to Dr. Yemi-Esan for her dedicated service and leadership, which have left an indelible mark on the nation’s civil service. He also urged Mrs. Walson-Jack to bring her innovative flair and unwavering integrity to the role, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the established rules and regulations that govern the Civil Service of the Federation.

As Mrs. Walson-Jack prepares to take on her new responsibilities, there is a heightened sense of anticipation and optimism about the future of Nigeria’s civil service under her stewardship. Her appointment is seen as a step towards fostering a more dynamic, transparent, and effective public service that can better serve the needs of the nation and its citizens.
