President Tinubu has appointed Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe as the Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Board. Olorunnimbe, an innovative leader and youth advocate, has demonstrated a strong commitment to educational advancement and social transformation.

Since founding The Temple Company in 2016, where he serves as Group CEO, Olorunnimbe has championed numerous transformative initiatives in education, entertainment, and sports. He has also played a key role in youth employment and entrepreneurship through his tenure on the Board of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), where he chaired the Stakeholder and Governance Committees.
Additionally, the President appointed Rasaq Olajuwon from the South West as UBEC’s Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical), and Tunde Ajibulu from the North Central as Deputy Executive Secretary (Services). Until his appointment, Mr. Olajuwon served as the Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), while Mr. Ajibulu, a Fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), is a Director at Tangent Construction Nigeria Limited and a Partner at Covenant Consultancy Services.
This latest round of appointments follows President Tinubu’s earlier decision last December to appoint Aisha Garba from the North West as UBEC’s Executive Secretary.
President Tinubu charged the newly appointed UBEC executives to reinforce the commission’s efforts in human capital development, educational reform, and enhanced service delivery. He stressed the need for a concerted push towards expanding access to quality basic education across the nation, thereby laying a solid foundation for the future.
