In a statement issued from the Presidential Villa, the President lauded the re-election of Mr. Mojeed as President of IPI Nigeria, alongside other distinguished members of the executive committee. He urged the newly elected leaders to prioritize the expansion of access to accurate and reliable information, a cornerstone of democratic governance.

“The leadership of IPI Nigeria has a pivotal role to play in ensuring that journalism in our nation remains a force for good—one that upholds the truth, advances the national interest, and contributes to our collective progress,” the President said.

He further called on the new executive committee to collaborate with the government in reinforcing Nigeria’s democratic ethos, stating that an informed citizenry is essential for nation-building.

The International Press Institute, a global organization dedicated to the promotion of press freedom and professional journalism, has been instrumental in shaping the media landscape in Nigeria. The re-election of Mr. Mojeed and the inclusion of other accomplished media professionals in the leadership underscores a commitment to these values.

President Tinubu concluded by reaffirming his administration’s commitment to press freedom and responsible journalism, assuring the new IPI leadership of his support in their efforts to uphold the ethics of the profession.
