In a statement celebrating this extraordinary accomplishment, President Tinubu lauded Dr. Ogunyemi, a distinguished dermatologist based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and a visiting specialist in Labrador City since 2018, for his unwavering dedication to advancing medical science and championing the welfare of others.

“This outstanding recognition reflects Dr. Ogunyemi’s visionary leadership, commitment to excellence, and compassionate approach to addressing health challenges,” President Tinubu said.

The President expressed confidence in Dr. Ogunyemi’s ability to lead the prestigious association, emphasizing that his extensive experience in medical science and over 15 years of leadership roles have prepared him to deliver transformative impact.

President Tinubu noted the symbolic significance of Dr. Ogunyemi’s achievement, underscoring how it exemplifies the excellence Nigerians continue to demonstrate on the global stage. He also expressed optimism that the formal ratification of Dr. Ogunyemi’s election at the CMA Annual General Meeting in May 2025 would mark the beginning of a new chapter of progress for the association.

“Your election is not just a personal triumph but a source of pride for Nigeria. We are confident in your ability to lead with inclusivity and respect for diverse perspectives, fostering innovation and growth in the Canadian healthcare system,” President Tinubu remarked.

Reiterating Nigeria’s pride in Dr. Ogunyemi’s achievement, President Tinubu assured him of the prayers and unwavering support of the Nigerian government and its people as he takes on this prestigious mantle of leadership.

Dr. Ogunyemi’s election as CMA President-Elect represents a historic milestone, showcasing the contributions of Nigerian Diaspora to global advancements in medicine and leadership.
