President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to depart Nice, France, today at approximately 9:00 PM. He is expected to arrive in Abuja in the early hours of Friday, at around 12:49 AM, ahead of the formal swearing-in ceremony of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Justice Kekere-Ekun’s elevation to the highest judicial office in the land marks a significant moment in Nigeria’s judiciary, as she takes the helm at a critical time. Her swearing-in is set to take place later on Friday in a ceremony that will attract top government officials, members of the judiciary, and other dignitaries from across the country.

President Tinubu’s swift return underscores the importance of this event, as his presence is essential in affirming the appointment and demonstrating his commitment to judicial reforms. The swearing-in of Justice Kekere-Ekun as the second female CJN in the history of the country after Mariam Aloma Mukhtar is expected to bring renewed confidence to the judiciary, given her wealth of experience and longstanding service in the legal profession.

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, who has served as a Justice of the Supreme Court since 2013, has built a reputation for her deep knowledge of the law and unwavering integrity. Her appointment aligns with the administration’s broader vision of fostering judicial independence and promoting justice for all Nigerians.

The event is set to be a milestone in the Tinubu administration, signaling its dedication to ensuring a robust and impartial judiciary that serves the interests of justice and upholds the rule of law in Nigeria.
